HI, CLASS

HI, class... I read this beautiful short story by Francezca Kwe in Rogue Magazine, so I can't help but want to share it with you guys... It's my first time, I think, to read a work of hers. I got the link from Ian Rosales Casocot's blog. Ian Casocot is one of our best Filipino writers at present. He is also a teacher at the Siliman University in Dumaguete. I am adding his blog to the links here in our blog, as well as that of Jessica Zafra. If you're into finding some really good books and movies or if you just want to have something sensible and witty to read, check their blogs regularly. Here is the link to the short story "Hunger" http//www.rogue.ph/features/entry/441... happy reading. Make your vacations productive. God bless.

ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS FOR THE FIRST BLOG ENTRY

Hi, class...

For your definition of literature, make it original, and perhaps explain why you chose a particular symbol (the photo) to represent what literature is for you. Also, for the importance of literature, relate it to the program that you are taking up. How can the study of literature be relevant to your degree? Your answer does not have to be limited to this, but try to incorporate this to your explanation.

Thanks... And I'm extending the deadline of your first assignment. Just make sure you have posted all your assignments by Thursday (October 1). God bless.

FIRST BLOG ASSIGNMENT

Hi, class. This is the blog that I was talking to you about earlier. You are required to regularly monitor our class blog to update yourselves on class issues or relevant messages. Aside from this blog, we also have a yahoo group with the following address: http//groups.yahoo.com/hum014_2nd2009-10mcl. You need to join our yahoo group for you to gain access to our lectures and class presentations.

Please make sure that you choose your blog header with care as this is almost always the first thing that materializes on the screen when your blog is viewed. It speaks much about the kind of personality you have or your intention for blogging.

Another thing, make your profile creative. Include in it the simile you wrote in class to describe yourself. You can revise it though, if you think that's necessary.

For your first blog post, give your thoughts about the nature of literature by answering these two questions: WHAT IS LITERATURE AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? In answering these two questions, append your post with a PHOTO that you personally took or that you got from the net (make sure to cite your source if it is the latter case). This PHOTO should represent your perception about literature. Your first blog post has to be posted not later than our first meeting next week (9/28-10/3), so we can look at them as we discuss the introduction to literature.

God bless, class. Let's make this a fruitful term for all of us. Thank you.
